Veneers

Veneers

Veneers are placed over the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They are made from dental-grade porcelain and are designed to look natural. Veneers are custom-shaped and shaded for each patient and are bonded to the front of the teeth. Veneers are stain-resistant and can help brighten teeth.

What are porcelain veneers?

Veneers cover the surface of a tooth, usually in order to improve its appearance. These restorations are custom-made to fit over an individual tooth. The veneer is made from porcelain composite material. Porcelain is the dental material of choice because it most closely mimics the color and appearance of a natural tooth.

What are composite resin veneers?

Composite resin veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored dental resin that are bonded to the front of the teeth. These shells are placed over the teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers are used to fix discoloration, chips, cracks, or misshapen teeth.

Are veneers a good option for me?

Our team will be happy to meet with you and discuss your goals for your smile. If we decide that veneers are a good option for you, we will create a treatment plan based on your smile goals.

Since veneers are long-lasting and stain-resistant, they may be considered a permanent dental restoration. This means they should remain on your teeth throughout your life. If you change your mind down the road, it’s possible that they can be removed and replaced, depending on the diagnosis of your dentist.

It’s important for you to discuss your goals with our team so that we can plan your treatment with veneers in mind. If you are unhappy with the way your smile looks or if you would like to make a few changes to your teeth, reach out to our dental practice. We would be happy to meet with you and discuss your options.

How is a veneer placed?

While considering veneers, it’s important to remember how they are applied. When patients visit their dentist, they will meet with us to discuss treatment options. From there, your dentist will design your new smile.

After taking an impression of your teeth, your dentist will send them to a lab to fabricate the veneer. In the meantime, your dentist will attach a temporary veneer to your teeth. This process allows the veneer to be designed in the correct shape. When they are ready, your dentist will attach the veneer to your teeth using a dental adhesive.

How are veneers maintained?

Just like your natural teeth, veneers need proper dental care. This means regular brushing with fluoride toothpaste and flossing. Additionally, it’s important to visit your dentist twice a year for a professional cleaning. Veneers can last many years, but it’s important to follow the above recommendations.
